For PCPA's production of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, I was in the paint shop, where I had the opportunity to paint all three levels of floor. Here is the process shown on our 2nd level of flooring.

This is the base MDF that we started with. We laid them out in a black box space to paint them before they were installed on the set. We primed them next.

We used three colors to wet blend together to create the base of the floor. The main colors were the tan and the light brown, and we used the darker brown to create knots on in the floor. We then used sharpies to mark the plank lines.

We then used floetrol on the floor before we used rubber wood graining tools with a light brown. We individually went through each plank.

We used six different colored washes for this floor. We individually used each wash over different planks to give each plank an individual look.
