Sketch Up design of the birdhouse I built for my props class, based on The Glass Menagerie
Building the birdhouse out of 3/4" Ply and 1/4" MDF for trim.
This is the birdhouse without a roof or trim. When the roof was added, I also drilled holes in the top to add in all of the flowers that I hand painted blue.
After the birdhouse was ready for flowers and completely built, I primed it and made sure all of the flowers fit.
I added texture onto the birdhouse to make the bricks look realistic. I used a mixture of joint compound, paint, and cork to make this texture.
I then used sponges to mix a light and dark blue over the bricks, and then used a tan wash over all of it. I used a lighter cream color as the grout.
